10- Being testy versus clear (10 unproductive ways to ask for help)

Day 10. I’m happy to close the series with a reminder that it’s 100% my responsibility to clearly express my needs, and to keep repeating them until I also receive a clear answer from the other part. We “test” because we fear the disappointment of being told: “No, I don’t want or I can’t help you”. We also think that the other one “should know better”, “I shouldn’t have to ask. Isn’t it obvious?” No, it’s rarely obvious. So we’d better be considerate and respectful when we ask for help (not critical like in cartoon 9) , clear and direct, sober and realistic, generous and authentic, optimistic and confident… AND we have to let go of the result!

However, the magic when we practice a centered communication, is that others are often eager to help us.

Enjoy Cartoon 10!

Carole

Reflecting on this cartoon, choose a situation in which you could be either testy or clear when asking for help. Notice the differences, and if you’d like, share them with me.

  1. What a delightful series! I have appreciated each and everyone of the 10 cartoons! They are such a so helpful, light hearted and on spot way to consider growing oneself! Merci Carole!

    • Thanks Arina and thanks for your participation! Overall, there wasn’t a lot of comments, but I received a lot of “positive reinforcing” emails, on the side!
