It can be complicated to be in relationship with others, but it can also be quite simple.
We bond over what we have in common.
Bonding over our core fears/assumptions about connecting with others might be one way to dissolve the very same fears/assumptions we have toward others, and ultimately nurture trust.
What if the big question about trust was more a big question about connection? Instead of wondering “Can I trust these people?”, asking ourselves “Am I connected to these people, and if not, can I become connected?”
I know what you think – we can’t connect with the people we don’t trust! That’s why mistrust is the most toxic feeling/idea spread around the world…
But the simple fact of thinking about the ones I don’t trust, makes me connected to them.
If we learn to bond over our common fears of being betrayed, rejected or judged, we would reach a better understanding and thus, solve our trust issues. That’s why Personal Mastery workshops are often transformational bonding experiences.
More humbly, in our daily life, if we learn to bond over anything, even conscious gossiping and boring agreement – just for a few minutes, we can improve our sense of well-being with others.
In our culture, more inclined to individualism and isolation, let’s make bonding a sacred practice.
Reflections: What are your core fears/beliefs about being in relationships with others? Do you have sacred bonding time? With whom? What makes your relationships with others qualitative?
